Sustainability at Emirates NBD extends to supporting the local business community. As a leading bank in the UAE, we always look to positively support the local economy wherever possible. In 2018, we spent approximately 91% of our operational budget on suppliers with addresses registered in the UAE.

We ensure our employees are given the opportunity to thrive in the workplace by creating a culture that celebrates openness, collaboration, continuous learning and a holistic work-life balance. This year, the Bank had 10,789 full-time employees from 70 nationalities.
At Emirates NBD, one of our key pillars is advocating for people with disabilities (People of Determination), and we have specific programmes aimed at supporting them. In 2018, we hired a total of 36 employees with disabilities between Emirates NBD Bank and Tanfeeth.
Each year, we align with the annual theme of the UAE, tying in to the overall direction of the country and measuring our impact on the local community.

In efforts to decrease our carbon footprint and manage our resources efficiently, we committed to:
> Green Auto Loans: Offer preferred interest rates to customers interested in purchasing electric or hybrid cars.
> Water Conservation Initiative: Removed over 5.1 tonnes of waste from UAE waterways and beaches through dive, kayak and beach clean ups.
> Achieved energy savings worth AED 250,000
